Rugs are a wonderful manmade creation. They are cozy, warm, and everything good about a room. They not only tie the whole look of a room together but they also help with sound proofing, which everyone should be grateful of if they have noisy neighbours. However, people have a hard time shopping for rugs because there is an immensely large collection of them out in the markets, which makes it very hard to pick just one. Their maintenance is not the easiest as well because you will be getting professional shampoos. It is definitely quite the investment, and in order to undertake such an investment you should be completely satisfied with your purchase.
The bigger the rug, they better it will look. You can always make do with a rug that is too big in size, but a small rug will be hard to work with. Small rugs are better to accent a room, but it won’t be able to tie the whole look together. Keep in mind that your rug should be big enough to hold at least 2.5 feet of your furniture. Small rugs work better in hall ways or bathroom, when you don’t want the furniture on top of it.
Rugs made of wool, or acrylic yarn are easy to maintain because they are easy to clean and are also durable. You can even keep a lookout for patterned rugs because they are easy to maintain as well, since you won’t be able to see most of the stains because of the pattern. Patterned rugs are a better option for households that have kids or pets. If you are short on time, do not get a rug that is high maintenance.
This depends on the kind of look you are trying to create in a room. If your room, has a lot of colours, patterns and other things going on, you probably would not want to get a rug that is very colourful. A neutral coloured rug in the shades of beige, eggshell and ivory would be a better fit. Whereas If your room is very simple, and you want to add some colour to it, you could get away with a funky rug.
You can find a lot of rugs online, and very good quality ones too. But we will also advise you to check out stores where you can feel the fabric, and visualise how it will look in your room.
